How to establish an antimicrobial stewardship program- a course for health care professionals in Egypt

About the course

This course introduces the key components of setting up an antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programme – including the goals and core elements of AMS, how to build an effective team for your setting, and how to appropriately evaluate the success of the programme. The course look at the importance of AMS on a local, regional, and global scale, in addition to covering the key concepts of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and AMS. Learners will also examine governance and leadership roles as they apply to AMS programmes.

Course organisers

The World Health Organization (WHO) is the directing and coordinating authority for public health within the United Nations system. WHO works worldwide to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable. WHO recognizes AMR as a global health threat and addressing it is a cross cutting priority programme. The WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean is one of WHO’s 6 regional offices around the world, serving the 21 countries of the region and occupied Palestinian territory (including East Jerusalem).  AMR Is a priority programme for the WHO Egypt Office.

The British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC) is a global educator, joining the dots between scientific researchers, medical communities and the wider public, encouraging and enabling them to pass on their knowledge to a global audience.
